Employment Guarantee Act: Ranchi Social Audit

A massive social audit of the NREGA was held in Ranchi district of Jharkhand from 14-21 May, 2007. Hundreds of volunteers from Ranchi and elsewhere walked from village to village, inspecting worksites, verifying muster rolls, and holding public meetings. This was an initiative of "NREGA Watch", an informal coalition of organisations working for the effective implementation of the NREGA in Jharkhand.

Following the social audit, a delegation of the Central Employment Guarantee Council (CEGC) visited Jharkhand to review the implementation of the NREGA, conducting field visits, participating in a public hearing, and consulting with the state government.
