Campaigning around the issue of mid-day meals for school-children has been an important focus of the Right to Food Campaign, with activities taken up by different groups in many states. We will collect details of such activities as they come in from different parts of the country.

The first major nation-wide event of this kind was the "Action Day" of 9 April 2002. This was the first major activity of the right to food campaign. The action day followed an appeal launched by Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti (BGVS) on 17 February 2002, the "Dhanbad appeal", and played a major role in kick-starting the mid-day meal campaign around the country.
