ICDS: Commissioner's Interventions

At the Central Government level, the ICDS comes under the purview of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. This Ministry has recently been carved out of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Till early 2006, the ICDS was dealt with by the Department of Women and Child Development under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

At the State level, the ICDS typically comes under the purview of one of the following three departments of the State Government - the 'Women and Child Development Department' or the 'Social Welfare Department' or the 'Social Welfare, Women and Child Development Department'.
